Ride Sun Valley

This past weekend, we joined top cycling vendors from around the world and set up a booth at the USA Cycling National Championships, part of the Ride Sun Valley Bike Festival.  We met some really cool people, mostly custom bike builders like Ellsworth and  Castle Frameworks, and mountain bike racers from all over the U.S.

Here’s a look at some of our women’s cycling apparel for both mountain and road biking below.  We’re really excited about Maloja’s Summer theme, Alp Appeal (you can see it written down the blue longsleeve top to the left).

The Alp Appeal concept is inspired by a fascination with the Alps and the beauty of blooming mountain meadows.  We can certainly relate in Sun Valley, living at the foot of Baldy and surrounded by the Sawtooth Mountains.

She’s a Mud Honey

Last week, we hosted a shop night for the Mud Honey’s!  And let us be the first to tell you what a bad-ass group of women we got to hang with.  Anytime you get Rebecca Rusch, Muffy Ritz, and India Wysong in the same room, you know it will be a great night!  India Wysong, a local Sun Valley girl, started the Mud Honey’s cycling group to get more women involved in biking in the Wood River Valley.

The Mud Honey’s are a competitive crew who are more into encouraging each other than winning.  That’s why the Mud Honey lifestyle is on track with the Maloja life–trails and bikes are fun, and that’s the way it should be!  To support the Mud Honey’s or better yet, to become a Mud Honey yourself, check these girls out here.

Thanks for spending the evening with us and we’ll see you on the trail, girls!

Smell Like Dirt

Dog Tired at the Top of Carbonate

Spring has Sprung at Bavarian Soul!  After a hard and fast hike up Carbonate in Hailey, Idaho this morning, we went straight to the shop to unpack more Spring/Summer Maloja gear.  Box after box, its the straight up coolest stuff you’ve ever seen–functional fabrics and unique details combined with modern cuts in hues like Alpine Rose (hot pink), Buttercup (bright yellow), and Creek (vibrant blue).  Perfect clothes to live out our quote of the day: “In the Spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.”

How it all began…

You could say it was love at first sight, the day we got hooked on Maloja.  And it wasn’t just the clothes, it was the lifestyle.  Lorraine discovered the German brand while visiting her birthplace and an idea was born.  Could we really pick up and move to a beautiful mountain town, walk to the chairlifts from our condo, and ski every powder day?  It sounded like a dream, but it was the Maloja life.  Love of nature, adventure, and wearing the coolest clothes on the planet.  Mother and son team, Lorraine and Carter Rowand, were on board.  One year later, after a re-haul of a former donut shop in downtown Ketchum, Idaho, the boxes arrived and Bavarian Soul officially became the first boutique in the United States to sell Maloja.
